Is it legal to use unsecured WiFi? When is a credible answer to this question?
I noticed that some, clearly uninformed Answers scathing rant about "theft of services" to similar questions in this forum, so let me clarify I can pay for a broadband router and a secure set in my home, so do not "steal" the connection. But also a smartphone, and what will be happy to connect to networks of other peoples automatically, just search for the nearest connection and without warranty records in This is not "hacking" it really theft services? For example, if I connect to a cafe, is not considered a flight. If someone leaves an open connection, what is the difference? It could easily fix it if it opened it was clear that they do not care. A related question: if I give my password to a neighbor, is it legal? Or is it the same as sharing my cable fixed to would be outright theft? No rants please, I am a consultant for accurate and credible and can not find an answer through Google on the Interwebs.
Since there were only a few cases to date, mainly in the lower courts, no case law guidance on this issue. Experts in United States believe that sometimes, the use of unsecured wireless network access can be considered an "unauthorized to a computer, which is prohibited by federal law even theft of communications. causes of action have been cited include defrauding Internet service provider and a violation of Internet service contract. Otherwise, such actions may be considered intervention in the cabinet. Furthermore, under certain circumstances, including the widespread use of the network in a manner that effectively prevents its operation for the owner, may be considered unauthorized execution of an operation of telecommunications (unauthorized operation of the router to allow Internet access), harassment, using a telecommunications device or interruption of the signal routing of telecommunications under the Communications Act (Telecommunications and Broadcasting). The violation of this article is punishable by fines and imprisonment. In theory, this is similar to the unauthorized connection cable television or telephone line from a neighbor and causes of action identified at the trial in these cases would apply. But theory aside, in effect, in most cases would be difficult to prove and quantify the damage caused by the use of the wireless network. It would be difficult to prove mens rea, purpose, required for the crimes. This is because in many cases, the connection to the wireless network is done automatically by the computer and the user discovers that after a while, anyway.

It's the American dream–start a company, make a fortune, and retire early. But to become multimillionaires in their twenties, as Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin did, boggles the mind. All they did, after all, is come up with a better way to search for things on the Internet, right? Only in part. No company achieves a market value in the range of $172 billion (in early 2008) based on a single good idea. This new entry in the Corporations That Changed the World Series shows how Google exploited the rage for click through ads, instant news, mapping and satellite imagery, email, and more to create a high-tech behemoth that has done nothing less than change the way we work and live.Chapters in the book: -Explain the importance of the company and the essential disruptions it introduced that changed business forever. -Detail Google's origins and brief history. -Present biographies of the founders and the historical context in which they launched the company. -Explain Google's strategies and innovations. -Show how Google's treatment of employees–food for free, concierge services, laundry facilities, and more–set the bar high for any company eager to attract the best and brightest. -Assess Google's impact on society, technology, processes, methods, etc. (Huge, considering that the company's name has become a verb in the English language!) -Show how Google beat Yahoo and other companies working hard to create a roadmap of the Internet. -Detail financial results over the years. -Predict Google's future prospects and successes. In addition, author Virginia Scott offers special features that include a look at the colorful people associated with Google, interesting trivia, ethical issues and controversies, a focus on products, what its detractors have to say, and a look at where the company is headed. Google–a company that changed, and is changing, the world.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Google Maps is a basic web mapping service application and technology provided by Google, free, that powers many mapbased services, including the Google Maps website, Google Ride Finder, Google Transit, and maps embedded on thirdparty websites via the Google Maps API. It offers street maps, a route planner for traveling by foot, car, or public transport and an urban business locator for numerous countries around the world. According to one of its creators, Google Maps is a way of organizing the worlds information geographically. Google Maps uses the Mercator projection, so it cannot show areas around the poles. A related product is Google Earth, a standalone program for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, SymbianOS, and iPhone OS which offers more globeviewing features, including showing polar areas. Want to find every pizza place within a 15-mile radius? Where the dog parks are in a new town? The most central meeting place for your class, club or group of friends? The cheapest gas stations on a day-to-day basis? The location of convicted sex offenders in an area to which you may be considering moving? The applications, serendipitous and serious, seem to be infinite, as developers find ever more creative ways to add to and customize the satellite images and underlying API of Google Maps. Written by Schuyler Erle and Rich Gibson, authors of the popular Mapping Hacks , Google Maps Hacks shares dozens of tricks for combining the capabilities of Google Maps with your own datasets. Such diverse information as apartment listings, crime reporting or flight routes can be integrated with Google’s satellite imagery in creative ways, to yield new and useful applications. The authors begin with a complete introduction to the “standard” features of Google Maps. The adventure continues with 60 useful and interesting mapping projects that demonstrate ways developers have added their own features to the maps. After that’s given you ideas of your own, you learn to apply the techniques and tools to add your own data to customize and manipulate Google Maps. Even Google seems to be tacitly blessing what might be seen as unauthorized use, but maybe they just know a good thing when they see one. With the tricks and techniques you’ll learn from Google Maps Hacks , you’ll be able to adapt Google’s satellite map feature to create interactive maps for personal and commercial applications for businesses ranging from real estate to package delivery to home services, transportation and more.
